WHY I DO WHAT I DO

“I never imagined I would ever be an athlete, but here I am, a Belgian national powerlifting champion, proof against the stereotypes rampant in the fitness world that vegans are weak and you need meat to be strong.”

THE SAHY-FI STORY

In my late-twenties I found myself working in finance in the heart of Manhattan. Life was comfortable, but I felt like I was coasting through it without passion, or purpose. I knew I needed to make a change. I had to find a way to make my difference in the world.

It was around this time that I started going to the gym regularly. As I got stronger, I gained energy and confidence. I realized the future I dreamed of was entirely in my hands, so I started studying to obtain my personal training certification. I had been so transformed through my fitness journey that I felt compelled to help others achieve the same life-changing benefits. Within the span of a year I completed my certification, quit my job, learned a new language, moved overseas and landed my first coaching gig at a gym in Brussels, Belgium! Talk about making a change…

I know I made the right decision when I see the proud smiles of the dozens of clients that I have helped become more fit, healthy and confident over the years.

My fight for animals has become an integral part of my life’s work. A vegetarian from age 19 for ethical reasons and now a forever vegan, I continue to be amazed by the physical and mental health benefits I’ve reaped through embracing a plant-based lifestyle.

I never imagined I would ever be an athlete, but here I am, a Belgian national powerlifting champion, proof against the stereotypes rampant in the fitness world that vegans are weak and you need meat to be strong. I now find myself exactly where I dreamed of being all those years ago, living and working at the merge point of my two greatest passions in life.
