HEALTHY HABITS 101: Make Your Own Energy Bars In Just 5 Minutes!
Welcome to my HealthyHabits minitip series! These quick vidbites are designed to help you make healthy daily choices and form good habits that stick. It’s all about the lifestyle, baby.
HEALTHY HABIT 01: MAKE YOUR OWN ENERGY BARS!
DIY energy bars are super easy and quick to prepare – you can have an entire batch ready to eat in less than 15 minutes. I know I said 5 in the title, but the 15 minutes include 10 minutes of freezer time, so that doesn’t count.
WHY SHOULD YOU MAKE A HABIT OF MAKING YOUR OWN ENERGY BARS?
1.) It is way cheaper than pre-packaged varieties. I did some calculations comparing the price of my ingredients vs. Lara Bars. My bars were only 50% cheaper to make (that’s still a lot!), but I live Japan where nuts and particularly dates are hard to come by. I have to import them through Amazon. I am sure that if you do your own math, you will come up with more like 70-80% cheaper.
2.) You have absolute control over the ingredients (no nasty 💩 you can’t pronounce)! Unless, of course, you actually look forward to your daily dose of monosepalithixarsidenthem gum.
3.) It tastes way better than store-bought varieties AND you have a healthy option available for when those sweet-craving moments rear their little heads. Guilt-free and delicious, how good is that?
THE KEY TO MAKING A SOLID ENERGY BAR:
1.) Dried Fruit
2.) Nuts/Seeds
3.) Food Processor
4.) That’s it!
5.) Seriously.
You can make whatever flavor combinations you want by experimenting with different nuts and fruit. As long as the concoction of your dreams sticks together, you are good to go! Once you are comfortable with the basics, you can start getting fancy by adding other ingredients. Popular add-ins include coconut flakes, chia or flax, peanut butter/nut butter and chocolate.

WARNING: These bars taste like candy. I am not liable for accidental incidences of overindulgence.
